The Heart of Good 2 Eat Catering: Paddock-to-Plate Excellence
At Good 2 Eat Catering, food isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are. Simon and I built this business from a deep love of creating meals that bring people together, and our paddock-to-plate philosophy is at the core of every dish we serve. We believe food should tell a story, and ours starts right in our own backyard.
Our Own Onsite Veggie Garden
One of the things we’re most proud of is our onsite veggie garden. It’s not just a garden. It’s where we grow the heart of our dishes. Lovingly cared for by our incredible gardeners, Imogen and Orian, this little patch of green supplies us with fresh herbs, edible flowers, and seasonal vegetables that make their way straight into your meals. There’s something magical about stepping outside, picking basil or nasturtiums, and knowing they’ll soon be part of a dish that wows your guests.
Celebrating Native Australian Produce
But we don’t stop there. We’re lucky to work with Sev Gen Indigenous Corporation in the Noosa Hinterland, a group that’s as passionate about native ingredients as we are. Their bush tucker orchard provides us with treasures like finger limes, lemon myrtle, and wattleseed, flavours that bring a unique and truly Australian twist to our menus. What’s even more special is knowing that this partnership supports their Indigenous work programs, creating opportunities and celebrating cultural heritage.
Our Commitment to Composting
Sustainability is close to our hearts, and we make sure nothing goes to waste. All our food scraps are composted, returning nutrients to the soil and completing the cycle of growth. This means that every herb and flower we grow is part of a bigger story, one of respect for the earth and its resources.
Looking Ahead: Fresh Eggs from Our Chickens
We’re always dreaming of ways to make Good 2 Eat even more self-sustaining. Our next big plan? Chickens! Soon, we’ll have our own little flock providing us with fresh, delicious eggs. Not only will it add another layer of flavour to our menus, but it’s also another step toward bringing even more of the process under our care. We can’t wait to hear the clucking of happy hens and see their contribution to our paddock-to-plate journey.
Why Paddock-to-Plate Matters
For us, paddock-to-plate isn’t just a trend, it’s a way of life. It means knowing exactly where your food comes from, celebrating local growers, and reducing our environmental footprint. It’s about giving back to the land and the people who nurture it, and creating meals that are as thoughtful as they are delicious.
When you choose Good 2 Eat Catering, you’re choosing more than a meal. You’re choosing a story of community, sustainability, and love for what we do. From the herbs we pick fresh from our garden to the native ingredients that honor Australia’s rich history, every dish is a reflection of our commitment to quality and care.
There’s something truly special about the foods that come straight from our own backyard. The thrill of picking fresh vegetables and fruits is always an adventure, turning gardening into a delightful experience that connects us to nature. That’s Gonzo and Graham picking the passion fruits.
